| NOTES | The potter's workshop produced several black-figure drinking cups whose foot consisted of a set of male genitals in place of the usual pedestal foot. The explicit foot combines with the veiled sexuality of the symposion (painted scene inside the cup) to give this cup a sexual charge and sexual excitement that the interior alone could not sustain. Potter and painter have pooled their considerable ingenuity to achieve something that the painting technique alone was not able to manage.
