| NOTES | When viewed in the mirror, this lovely flower has quite an impressive stamen. This effect is called "anamorphosis."
This is word (from the Greek meaning "formed again") for the process of distorting the perspective of an image so dramatically that its correct dimensions can be recaptured only when you change your point of view just as dramatically. In catoptric anamorphosis, a curved mirror is used to view the image. Usually anamorphic mirrors are conical or cylindrical. When the mirror is placed (on the right place) on the anamorphic drawing, a recognizable scene appears as a reflection. |
