Raoul Wallenberg was a Swedish diplomat who issued thousands of "protective passes" for Hungarian Jews. He courageously distributed the passes even to Jews who were already loaded onto death trains. He disappeared after the Russian liberation of Budapest and is presumed to have died in Soviet custody.
